Mr. Johannes Tsimako is the Vice Chairman of the Botswana Chamber of Mines since 2017. Johannes holds a BSc Geology Degree from University of Botswana and an MSc in Mineral Exploration from ITC, Delft and The Netherlands. Johannes has worked in the mineral industry of Botswana for over 25 years. Johannes been involved with the Khoemacau Copper Project as the Country Manager since inception and has been influential in taking the project from exploration to a bankable mining project in 2015. His role also involved exploration project planning and execution ensuring adherence to Khoemacau’s HSEC policies in the various exploration prospects for the company. In this position, he played a key role in 100% retention of the land tenure since 2011. Prior to joining Khoemacau, Johannes worked at the Department of Geological Survey (DGS) for more than ten years where he worked as Chief Geologist for over five years as part of a team that developed and managed the National Integrated Geo-Information System (NIGIS). Johannes administered and managed the prospecting licence division at the DGS. Prior to his time with the DGS, Johannes held various senior positions with the Ministry of Minerals, Energy and Water Resources; including the Department of Energy, Mineral Affairs on Coal development strategies, and Mineral Affairs on Mineral Promotion and Policy formulation. Earleir in his career, Johannes worked for Rio Tinto Botswana (Pty) Ltd as an exploration geologist with Rio Tinto, covering various parts of the country on both base metals and diamond exploration programs.
